To mark the 2024 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Natural ResourceWomen Platform (NRWP) in Liberia called for urgent and collective action to end gender-based violence under the theme “Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls: Towards Beijing+30.” The event highlighted the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, urging a shift “From Talk to Action.” NRWP leaders emphasized the ongoing threat of violence to women’s health, dignity, and rights, and called on the Liberian government to enforce protective laws and policies. Alarming statistics from the Ministry of Gender and the LDHS reveal the high prevalence of sexual and gender-based violence in Liberia, especially among girls aged 0–20. NRWP reiterated its commitment to empowerment, advocacy, education, and justice, aiming to create a safe and equitable society for all women and girls.
